Varieties
we've tried over the past five years of growing tomatoes in
the mountains of central Virginia without success are listed
in the following table. They were bitten off at the root by
deer or rabbits, they wilted or died outright, they tasted
bland, the skins were thick enough to strangle a sea lion,
they produced low yields, or the fruit was hideously catfaced.
Admittedly, not all of these problems can be traced to the
plant. So we occasionally give selected varieties from this
list a second chance. But in general, just like people, there
are too many great ones out there to waste time with the ones
that aren't!
