Equitation

Until recently my record in the world of sports was unblemished by success of any kind. I loathe playing basketball, softball and tennis. Though I love water, I feel I swim with the grace of a harpooned manatee. Volleyball, badminton, horseshoes and croquet bore me. Skiing, Putt-Putt, rock climbing and kayaking . . . too much time on the road just getting there! And, though I've never played golf, I know I wouldn't stick with it long enough to find the first ball I lost in the grass.

But all these abortive attempts at sportsmanship are behind me, now. I've discovered my sport: Equitation. I'm learning how to ride!

This is Stuart. He is fleabit grey (not white). Stuart is teaching me to post to the trot very nicely with his smooth gait.

These photos suck because I used a Polaroid, but this is me walking Stuart. My position isn't very good since my heels, shoulders and hips aren't in alignment, but that's one of the many things I'm learning.

Posing in the Riding Center. Isn't he a handsome boy?
